ACT Ladies Show Weekend

Another show weekend passes and I have to admitt I'm not overly unhappy that we have the next two weekends off. Occasionally even I like to hang around the house and just let the dogs be dogs.

All in all it was a good weekend, a bit on the cold and windy side but very normal for this time of year.

Dante managed to pick up 3 x Baby Puppy of Breeds, 1 x Baby Puppy in Group and 2 x 3rd placings in the Sweepsstakes classes (silly me thought there where 3 days of sweeps and paid extra money for a class that didn't happen.....ooops).

Dante showing off for the camera (only because I was bribing him with duck, he was really over it at this stage)

Dante's half uncle Tai

And Aislinn the Havanese puppy (oh she is just too cute for words!)

We caught up with friends and had ourselves a wonderful time and thats what showing, at least to me, is all about. Having a great day out with dogs and friends.

Offcause Dante thought staying clean all weekend has crappy and managed to get dirty on Monday afternoon after the show in about 2 mins, that has got to be some kind of record!

That lovely weekend helped me deal with this mornings episode involving our Lab and explosive shit all over my lounge room at 5.30 in the morning......

Honnestly that Lab . . . . ah, I have no words, I really don't.

Lets just say he is the first and last of his kind to grace this house lol

Happy Birthday Alchemy!

Well it was actually yesterday.....

2 years old already! Where has the time gone, it seems like only yesterday she was a tiny, naughty, escape artist puppy who wouldn't sleep anywhere but the end of our bed (infact she still sleeps there now!)
She really isn't my little baby anymore and soon she will be having puppies of her own.

In other news we did a few shows over the last few weekends, Cowra and Yass. Dante did us all proud getting 2 x Baby Puppy in GRoups and one 1st place in 3 - 6 month sweepstakes out of 37 puppies! We where all thrilled.
Yngvie also did well with my at Yass getting a lovely Best of Breed even though he was being a devil dog, naughty boy.

Dante at Cowra

A beautiful Autumn afternoon at Woodstock (where the Cowra show was held)

Our friends Bullmastiff Conan

The beautiful Afghan Lochie

Yngvie at Yass

And a bit of fun in the show ring (we don't always take showing seriously ;)

The freezing winter temps have truely set in here at home and off cause the Sammie's are loving it, they spend almost all day outside, running around, chewing ice, playing in the frost. Lestat and I stay inside near the heater!

Bathurst Show Weekend

It's been a few years since we made the trek to Bathurst for the show weekend and as usual the weather was lovely.
Ice cold nights and warm beautiful days.

I only had Miss Alchemy and Dante entered in the shows, Mistral came along for the ride and Lestat stayed at a friends place (after so many years his hips are getting worse and worse and I didn't want him to deal with such cold weather)

Allie having some down time at the Bathurst Royal, she wasn't entered but she came along anyway.

Dante and Alchemy both did well for themselves (Dante showed like a little star with so many people comenting on how lovely he was and how well behaved), with Allie taking all three Best of Breeds and Dante getting four Baby Puppy of Breeds and a 2nd place in the sweepsstakes out of a line up of 20 puppies.

Dante showing his little heart out for me

Dante enjoyed his first camping trip although he did get a little cold on the first night (I think he has gotten too use to sleeping in a heated house) and wasn't at all bothered by the fireworks that went off both nights we were there. He even made some new friends with Ahsoka, Jedi and Zero, dogs belonging to some friends. His favourite was grumpy uncle Zero the sibe.

Even Samoyed puppies get cold

The humans could have been a little more comfortable. Our air bed got a slow leak on the first afternoon and by the next morning was flat, so we had to sleep on the cold ground the second night. But with the 6 or so layers of clothing we managed to get into we were pretty warm in the freezing night air.
Next time I am really thinking about staying in a hotel, I don't know how much longer I can take sleeping on the ground haha.

In other news the lovely Yngvie went to a differrent show and got an Open in Group, can't be unhappy with that. So far he's done quite well for himself here in Australia. We also got his hip scores back with a good result so fingers crossed Alchemy's will come back good too and we might just have some puppies by the end of the year.

Another camping weekend coming up soon, I need to get out and buy a new air bed so I don't freeze again.

Easter Long Weekend

Long is the right word for it too.....

Dante and I went up to Sydney to help his breeder handle her dogs for the Sydney Royal and the NSW Samoyed show. And then hit the show ring back home for two days.

Sydney Royal
Gr Ch Apolar My T Whyt Warrior (Dante's Uncle)

Myself handling Dante's half sister Apolar Hollywood Rose

And the Apolar Breeders Team (Gr Ch. Apolar My T Whyt Warrior, Apolar O Gee Golly Gosh, Apolar Hollywood Rose and Apolar O My Oohlala)

Nsw Samoyed Show
One of the dog classes

Myself again with Apolar Hollywood Rose

We had a fantastic time, I think Dante slept for two days after everything, bless him he was such a good boy the whole time.

Can't say that I won very much over the weekend, but Dante and Yngvie (who I handled for the first time) did pretty well for their first show and first shows in Australia, Yngvie went so far as to get 2 Jr In Group placings, so can't be unhappy with that! And Dante showed like a pro and picked up a Best Baby Puppy and 2nd in Sweepstakes.

Yngvie

Dante

It was lovely to finally meet Dante's father Pan who went Best In Show at the Sammy show and to see his brothers Freddy and Jack (wow they are all such beautiful puppies!) even if Jack and Dante decided they didn't like each other too much when Dante first showed up, they still had a fantastic time and I think he missed them a little when we got home.

Dante's daddy Pan, Ch. Anaky I Don't Give A Damn

Freddy (didn't get a photo of Jack unfortunatly)

Now for a nice relaxing weekend (that will more then likely be filled with washing dogs and mowing the lawn) before our trip away to Bathurst next weekend, 4 shows in 3 days, should be a blast.

Photo Update

Just thought I would add a few photos taken on the weekend of Dante and Alchemy.
Dante went to the park for the first time and had a fantastic time, we were happy when we got home, he slept like the dead for the rest of the night, a tired puppy is a happy puppy.

And Alchemy, finally growing back some coat after the huge drop she had over summer.

And one of the Samoyeds together (off cause Alchemy got pissy with me for taking photos instead if giving her her dinner so she was pulling faces)

And one of Allie and Lestat (can't leave out the lovely Lab)

In other news Yngvie is going in for his hip scores this week so fingers crossed we get good results and Dante is in training for his debut in the show ring this coming Sunday, naturally I am nervous as hell.
We have done so much training but as anyone with show puppies will know you can train them until you think they have it down perfect and then on the day they forget everything and muck up like crazy lol
All the fun of having show dogs.

Its Been Awhile

I've not looked here for so long, oops.

Alot has happened since I last wrote about Mistral's toy swallowing habit. I wont bore you with the minor details but just update the big stuff.

We moved house and found that even though being slightly closer to a city we managed to go without internet connection for almost three months! But the lack of tv and internet did give me a good chance to spend more time with the dogs and get some nice photos of them enjoying their new home.

Their favourite activity seems to be running around the house in laps at top speed:

Even Lestat seems to like it here, he might not be too thrilled about me putting a photo up of him in his pj's though......

Alchemy gained her Australian Championship title as well, taking only 7 months in total. We are so very proud of our little girl.

Mistral showed us all how well behaved he is by letting me dress him up for a Halloween parade at a show recently. He was a fallen angel which I though very appropriate for a Samoyed

And lastly we have big news.
A very special young dog will be joining us here in Australia soon, co owned between myself and Icemist kennels.
We have been waiting for a long time for this young man and as they day of his arrival grows closer we get more and more excited!
I wont let on where he is coming from or his name yet but here are a few pics for now.

Dog Vomit

Mistral is going to be one of these dogs that drives me insane for the rest of him life.

Allie has this fantastic little giraffe toy she totally adores (she picked it herself at the store and proudly took it to the counter, let it be scanned and then walked out with it) and we noticed earlier this evening that it was missing one of it's legs.

Off cause it wasn't Allie, she never eats anything except food and roo poo (her choice of dinner most nights! ewwwww)
We looked at Lestat, he has taken out shoes, makeup, carpet, clothing and a mosquito net and has swollowed things before but then we saw Mistral, sitting in the corner looking very guilty.......

Right, out comes the soda crystals and two seconds later, giraffe leg......would you believe the mongrel tried to eat it again!!!!

I have never been so happy for a dog to vomit in my life.

Arggggggg, this dog is going to be the death of me!
