It was was hard to get up this morning, even when we where able to sleep in a little more then usual it did seem like an insanly difficult thing to have to do.
But we managed and crawled back to the show grounds, being very thankful that we didn't have to set up our camp again and that our group was in the same ring, it definatly made life, our overly zombie like life, easier.
Mistral was a very good boy today and we actually got our class! Well, the male portion of it in any case, it then went to a little girl afterwards. But we where very happy as the dog we beat was one who had beat us at the last two shows. It really does proove that each judge has their own ideas of what the breed show look like.
But that was about it for the dogs we had with us. No matter, it was still a great day and I got even more lovely Havanese cuddles from a sweet little man called Magic.
It would now seem that we have a few weeks off again and I really hope that Mistral doesn't go back to his bratty ways when he was doing so well today.
Oh sweet lord I am exhausted, 1.28am and we have only just gotten home! We didnt finish with our breed class until 12.00 in the morning, good god I was worried we where going to turn into pumpkins with the way it was all going. In truth I cant even remember what I did in there, I believe I was lost in a zombie haze.
But for all this, even though Misty didnt get anything, again, he was very good boy and once again he wasnt the one being a terror! Frankly it was quite a nice change of pace for us.
Lovely Bud once again got dog challange and Best of Breed (cheer), looking absolutly amazing even at such an unholy hour.
With any luck we will do better tomorrow, I will be happy if Mist can at least take his class but looking as young as he does I am not too sure it will happen.
Its already been a long day and its only going to get longer. I have a few hours at home between the two shows we have and will be attending today. The first one this morning in Yass went alright actually.
We got totally dumped and got absolutly nothing but Mistral was a good boy! He was a little vocal here and there but he stood mostly still for the judge and stacked himself very nicely so I am very happy with that.
Currently he and my partner are fast asleep before we pack up again for this twilight show in Canberra later. As I stated before Mist has never been to a twilight show before and I will be very interested to see how he takes it all. I am really hoping that he does well but I wont hold my breath, he is very young still and totally out of coat, he is a slow grower and isnt nearly as impressive as some of the other dogs. He just needs time to grow up but it certainly makes getting his Aus champ in a year, or less then now, difficult!
Well nothing like a challenge!
So a few pics from this morning:The lovely little Stanley, sibe pup, such a total cutie. And the stunning Bud, Misty's half uncle, who took out Best of Breed (cheer) He is an amazingly big, heavy dog, he is very striking and will hopfully do well tonight as well.
I am finding it difficult to keep myself amused this weekend, really wish we had gone to the show but no matter, we are definatly going to the three shows next weekend so that should keep us nice and active.I can't stand being inactive, its one of my pet hate's.
Seems even Mistral was bored this weekend, it has been almost impossible to keep him from fussing. At least I know he enjoys showing, otherwise I wouldn't be doing it so much, if at all.
We took the boys for a nighttime walk in one of the cities big parks. Mistral didn't seem to like it all that much at all, he was edgy and nervous, but I don't blame him, he isn't use to such things. We will have to take him out more often so he is more comfortable in different situations.
So here are a few photos, not very good quality unfortunatly, I am still waiting for my good camera, but cute all the same.
Mist is crusin for chicks with Lestat in the back seat here . . . . Playing in the leaves from our huge Ash tree He loves his leaves.
And offcause posing like the little supermodel he is. He can't help himself, which is helpful in a show dog. ;) I only realised how raised his back end looked in this photo, its not really like that, he was just standing on uneven groud, thank god! Well hopfully next weekend we will actually see Mist doing some winning! I certainly wouldn't say no to a few points after all the shit I have been threw this month. S.
The title pretty much says it all. It would seem that we are not going to be attending the Tumbarumba show as my show entries got lost and so after a nice long chat with a few different people and the bank it has been established that nothing can be done about it so we will be having the weekend off.
In a way I am happy about this, its been one son of a bitch month already, nothing has been going the way it is meant too, one thing after another, its been so fucking annoying. I think I might pack it in for this month and start again next month.
As a compensation I will take a few photos of Mistral this weekend and post them here then.
As much as it would give me great pleasure to announce that Mistral got some more points today I am dissapointed to say that he has not.
Once again beaten by other dogs, and there was some seriously stiff competition today, in fact the dog he was up against in class is the number one scoring dog on the DOL point score, so we didn't really have a snowballs chance in hell.
I am however very pleased to announce that although he was a little naughty in the first time he ran the second time he was very well behaved and really worked beautifully. At this stage that is good enough for me. We did have a good day though, we shared out gazebo with a man who breeds and shows lovely Siberian Huskies, today we where pleased to have the company of Rodger, the red male and the lovely Bindi (next photo down), a light grey female. Both very attractive dogs, the girl Bindi doing quite well for herself.
Lestat was absolutly beside himself with joy at having two Sibes in the gazebo with him (his greatest love is Siberians and we suspect that he is secretly a Sibe, just hiding out in the skin of a Lab) and quickly started flirting with Bindi who was far more interested in the food we had rather then the smooth blond trying to get her attention. Not exactly how I wished the day to go but all in all a good time was had by all and with any luck Mistral is getting into the swing of things again and will be even better next weekend when he take on Tumbarumba (say that 5 times fast) but he is going to have to be on his best behaviour as his breeder is coming with a few of his dogs and they are, as I have said and shown many times before, wonderful dogs.
There are some days that I truely wonder why . . . . . .
Mistral decided that he had taken a violent dislike to the judge and that he simply had to get away from her as quickly as possible. The judge was utterly furious about the whole thing saying she had had a bad day??????
So offcause we didn't do very well at all. The other dogs offcause didn't act up the way Mist was and the points went to them.
We didn't go home totally empty handed however, taking our class, reserve challenge and then runner up best of breed, so it could have been worse.
I just don't know what came over my usually charming, show off, utter flirt of a dog. Not liking people is so against his usual nature. I suppose just like people, dogs like certain people and dislike others. Some absolutly lovely people I have gotten to know have offered to help out with Mistral tomorrow at the next show we have. With any luck this will help calm the maniac down and get him more focused before he is called to the ring.
Wish us luck, god knows we are going to need it.
And now after an already stupidly long and tireing day I have to go and attent the engagement party for two close friends. Right now I wish I was doing what the boys are, curled up in their beds, fast asleep and content.
As the title states Misty boy is a year old today! Happy Birthday my crazy and wonderful little man. Well I can't believe he has been in my life for a whole year, it seems as though it was only yesterday I was bringing this fluffy little polar bear of a pup home and after one day I was staring to wonder just what on earth I had signed myself up for. He was a terror a lot of the time and I suspect he had selective hearing for the first three months, thankfully he was never much of a chewer and treasured his toys, in fact we still have all the toys we bought for him on that first day (except for the few Lestat got a hold off). He loved the cats from the moment he met them and adopted Nightwish, who we now joke is his kitty (he spends time cleaning and playing with his cat) and was convinced our grumble bum of a cat Ahti would eventually fall in love with him (a year later and Ahti is still of the opinion that Mist is the bane of his existance) and is still trying. I wont say it's been easy with him all the time. He is a bugger to walk on a loose leash unless he is in the obedinace or show ring, when he behaves very well and shows off for the crowd. He is a big barker with a high pitch noise that can really hurt when he feels he need to express himself in a vet clinic or similar type room. There is not one nasty bone in his body and he believes everyone is his friend, they just don't know it yet. Even when we have had run ins with other dogs who have taken a violent dislike to him he bounced right back, not letting it bother him one bit, not to mention how good he has been for Lestat, they are the very best of friends and hate to be apart.
So here are some pics from the begining (warning there are quite a lot)
Birth, with mother Holly The first time I met the pups (there where two litters at his breeders at the time) swarmed in a sea of white puppies, they where after my toes! The first night at home, he was just so tiny! And he got to exploring very quickly, he has never been afarid of anything! Always slept in the most bizzare places. Lestat took him under his wing and taught him everything he knew (and god did he put up with a lot!), now days Mist does the teaching. Then my little boy began to grow into a young man, hitting the fuglies a few times when his coat when crazy! And his ears where going up and down all the time as his teeth came threw.
Eventually the right ear decided to stand and the left was the bane of my existance for a long time, I was worried that it would never stand up right but his breeder and a number of very helpful people gave me advice about it and not to worry and low and behold they where right . . . eventually. Even though we had origionally bought Mist on a limit register and had no intention of ever showing him we still practised stacking and gaiting and offcause a little obediance. He was always well behaved for grooming and baths. But always managed to look utterly bored. God he did grow fast, before I knew it he looked nothing like the darling pup I brought home on lovely autumn afternoon. And got very depressed when he started to realise he was too big for my lap. I don't think there has been one day they he does not love to play with Lestat. His discovery of the beach was hilarious, I don't think he had ever been so happy and his show training was coming along really nicely now that we had been given the go ahead to show him, (the best decision we have made in a long time) He was a calander boy twice for two different 2009 calanders. Mr October And Mr Feb He adored christmas and definatly decided that candy canes where the best things ever but then was not too fond of visiting the relo's.
He is a social butterfly and has many friends, one of his favourites is a lovely Finnish Lapphund named Kivi Tarro. (first photo taken by Kivi's owner) He met up again with his brother and sister, Barney and Star, and went to a few shows, doing well and then the intense heat showed its ugly self and he found another greatest passion, his pool! From left to right, Mistral, Barney and Star And finally here he is, 1 year old and totally out of coat but growing up nicely, into a beautiful, sweet, loving and utterly devoted little dog. Mistral has sparked my utter adoration for this breed and I will never be without one of these amazing, charming and utterly unique little dogs. They are worth their weight in gold and so much more.
